Role and responsibilities:

We are looking for an intern to join our Sustainability team in Brussels for a 6-month paid internship, starting in January or February 2022.

You will research & monitor policy developments on sustainability issues and support client work. This is an opportunity to be fully part of client teams and gain first-hand experience of consulting, as well as have an impact in our Sustainability team.

What you’ll do as you move with us:

  • Research & monitoring policy developments on sustainability issues at EU, national and international levels
  • Support client work, including
      • Implementation of communication and advocacy programs
      • Drafting reports and briefings
      • Organising events and conferences
      • Contributing to new business proposals

Experience that contributes to your success:

  • Knowledge and a keen interest in EU policy and decision-making processes, with a focus on environment issues, including chemicals, circular economy, sustainability.
  • Previous public affairs experience in an EU institution, regulatory organisation, trade association, advocacy organisation (NGO), company or consultancy is desirable (but not essential).
  • Further education in a relevant field, such as EU or international politics, law, environmental policy, etc.
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with digital and social campaigns is an advantage
  • Critical thinking with a desire to learn in a fast-paced and international environment
  • Excellent spoken and written English - German speaking would be an asset

Practicalities

Starting date – January or February 2022

As a result of COVID-19, all BCW Brussels employees are currently working partly remotely. Interviews will therefore take place by video conference. However, the successful candidate must be able to travel to Belgium at the start of the internship for a smooth onboarding process and work from Brussels.
