SolarPower Europe is a member-led association representing the European solar PV sector. SolarPower Europe’s aim is to ensure that more energy is generated by solar than any other energy source by 2030 and lead our members to make solar the core of a smart, sustainable and inclusive energy system. We are an award-winning association and have over 260 members spanning 35 countries. We aim to produce thought-leading energy market analysis and support the business of our members through creative and successful advocacy campaigns. 

As an essential member of the Finance & Administration team, you will be the go-to HR expert for our growing organization work on a range of HR initiatives including recruitment, diversity strategy, mentorship programme and health and wellbeing. 

Job responsibilities: 

Reporting to the CFO, the HR Officer will be the organization’s focal point for Human Resources: 

Job responsibilities: 

  • Lead the Diversity (DEI) working group and drive the implementation of our DEI strategy as well as ensuring HR compliance with this strategy; 
  • Lead on Health and Well-being initiatives; 
  • Assist in setting up a mentorship programme for new employees; 
  • Coordinate and assist the team in recruitment, review job ads and job applications; 
  • Induction of new employees, ensuring employment legislation compliance and the roll-out of the overall organisational induction process; 
  • Process monthly payroll administration and related benefits as well as being the liaison between the organization and our social secretariat; 
  • Track employee leave days ensuring line manager approvals; 
  • Contact point for all HR-related inquiries from staff; 
  • Ensure employee information and files are kept up-to-date; address changes, copies of performance appraisals, etc.; 
  • Liaise with local police for EU Summit employee and visitor passes; 
  • Keep up-to-date on Belgian labour legislation; 
  • Manage employment contracts; 
  • Update and enforce HR policies, and related regulations; 
  • Manage and coordinate career development trainings, ensuring compliance with our Training Plan; 
  • Identify staff needs and make recommendations to the leadership for employee benefits and optimization of salaries; 
  • Other related HR tasks as needed. 


The ideal candidate has the following professional profile: 

  • You have a university degree.  A bachelor or master degree focussing on Human Resources or Psychology is a plus; 
  • You have at least two yearsexperience working in HR in a Belgian organisation and have working knowledge of Belgian labour regulations;  
  • You have an excellent command of both English and French (verbal and written). Dutch or any other EU language is a plus; 
  • You are dynamic, proactive and flexible with excellent organisational skills; 
  • You are friendly, approachable, a team player, internationally minded, are good at prioritising and have a hands-on mentality; 
  • You are IT literate (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); and 
  • You are an EU citizen or currently possess a Belgian work permit.
