EURACTIV is the leading EU policy media present in 13 European countries. It publishes EU news free of charge and facilitates debates for EU policy professionals in 12 languages. With 2.3 million page views and 783.986 unique visitors per month, EURACTIV is a leading online media on EU affairs. The group gathers approximately 100 people around Brussels and its network of national affiliates. It has four main sources of income: sponsorship, communication package memberships, advertising and public contracts.

To strengthen our editorial team in Brussels, we are currently recruiting a:

Community Development Manager

The Community Development Manager will work closely with members of the Community Team in Brussels on the overall launch, development, and growth of EURACTIV’s membership community, while also encouraging a continued increase in the number of donations to the media network. The Community Development Manager would also be working to ensure EURACTIV content reaches a larger audience, with greater impact, and striving to increase further the engagement of the readership. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Launch and develop the community programme of EURACTIV.
  • Coordinate all communications with the community, online and offline. Collate and monitor subscriptions and readers' feedback. Be the central point of contact.
  • Creatively respond to, and seek out opportunities to promote subscriptions and donations, including preparing promotional material and cases for support.
  • Maintain the subscriptions database, keeping accurate and detailed records. 
  • Ensure maximum possible conversion and retention rates e.g. by improving the readers' journey. 
  • Develop strategies and conduct campaigns that drive the audience to the website and enrich the brand footprint.
  • Offer data-based strategic input for EURACTIV’s digital communications (specifically email, website channels).
  • Support the development and communication of the EURACTIV brand.
  • Support the collection and interpretation of data on the company’s impact, and help articulate and implement recommendations based on this.

Job requirements / profile:

  • 2+ years of experience in communications and/or membership/philanthropy management systems.
  • A University Degree.
  • Strong communications skills, strong knowledge of digital communications strategies, marketing tools and social media platforms.
  • Ability to produce subscriptions/membership reports and quickly analyse and interpret data
  • Effective copy-writing, excellent organisational, social, communication skills and team spirit, with a hands-on and solutions-driven work mentality.
  • Strong work ethic, fast and hard-working, good multitasking skills.
  • Critical and creative thinking with a desire to learn in a fast-paced and international environment.
  • Ability to work independently, take responsibility, show flexibility.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Good computer skills. Specifically experience in use of Google Suite, Google Analytics and WordPress. Experience of working with online payment processing systems e.g. Stripe and CRM databases .
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Fluency in French &/or German highly desirable for this role.
