About the job

The team at EURADA is expanding and we currently have an opportunity for a Communications Officer within one of our R&i projects supported by the European Commission. You will be based in the European district of Brussels where EURADA is established. EURADA is the European Association of Development Agencies, an entity that represents regional economic practitioners from 23 European countries.

The main purpose of the job is to disseminate the outcomes of the H2020 TetRRIS project, its activities to key stakeholders, and the community of responsible research and innovation. The post-holder will ensure that our communications, publications, social media and digital presence demonstrates TetRRIS project progression.

Your role

The role will include leading communications activities on the TeTRRIS project, with an expectation of engaging in communications and outreach activities on other external grants awarded to EURADA in future.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for implementing TetRRIs' Communication Strategy and ownership of TetRRIs' branding guidelines;
  • Drafting news releases and communication on the website of the TeRRItoria project;
  • Producing printed and digital materials including literature, flyers and working with external design agencies when needed;
  • Running  TetRRIs' social media accounts (currently Twitter and LinkedIn);
  • Producing new slides and maintaining the master TetRRIs slide set;
  • Drafting internal and external newsletters via Mailchimp and other email marketing software;
  • Preparation of 10 podcasts for the dissemination of the project results
  • Representing TetRRIs in meetings with stakeholders and supporting ELIXIR's booths at scientific conferences.

You have

  • University degree, ideally in the field of regional economic development  or journalism/communications that can be applied effectively to the regional field, or recent experience of working in a communications role;
  • A high level of literacy with excellent written and oral communication skills in English as well as analytical skills; High-level English, preferably native speaker
  • Experience of communicating complex information to diverse audiences;
  • Familiarity with general communications software including Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign);
  • Experience of running institutional social media accounts and email marketing software;
  • Confidence and skills in developing content for presentations to external stakeholders.

Personal attributes:

  • A motivated self-starter with an ability to execute a number of projects simultaneously in a high-paced and multinational team-environment;
  • Networking skills and the ability to build relations with various stakeholders (virtually and face-to-face);
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals across a range of profiles;
  • When required, work outside normal office hours to travel to TetRRIS project meetings.

This will be a busy role with frequently changing priorities so it is essential that you are able to:

  • Evaluate priorities often, working independently yet based on agreed individual and team objectives;
  • Meet deadlines and manage priorities to handle a heavy workload;
  • Work to a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

You might also have

  • Experience of working in communications roles on collaborative research projects, for example, those funded through Horizon 2020;
  • Experience of working in a development agency or in a regional economic development
  • Experience in working in an international environment and/or on projects involving people on many sites.
