The European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS)
The European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS) is both an independent federation of
European national neurosurgical societies and a fast-developing association of individual neurosurgeons
from Europe and around the world.
Founded in 1971, by delegates from 18 national societies, today the EANS counts 42 European National
Member Societies, 3 Affiliated Society Members and 2500+ Individual Members. The organisation’s
objective is to enable its members to enhance the care they deliver to their patients by facilitating the
exchange of scientific information at the highest level. In pursuit of this goal, the EANS arranges a wide range
of meetings, symposia and educational courses, including the European Congress of Neurosurgery and the
highly regarded European Training Courses in Neurosurgery.
THE EANS MISSION IS TO:
> enhance the exchange of neurosurgical knowledge and experiences amongst its members;
> promote the interests of the neurosurgical discipline, as well as the interests of neurosurgeons and of
their patients both within and outside the European geographical region;
> facilitate the training of specialist neurosurgeons and surgeons-in-training;
> bring together national and international neurosurgical associations.
