On 26 March 1976, in Stuttgart, 14 liberal and democrat parties from Belgium, Denmark, Germany, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom created the first cross-border European political family in history: the Federation of Liberal and Democrat Parties in Europe.
In 1986, we became the European Liberal Democrats and Reformists (ELDR), and in 2012 we transitioned to our new name of Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, as a fully-fledged European political party.
We put people at the centre of our party, and this allows us to grow together, better and stronger, year after year
