I am applying for the position of Energy, Environment and Transport Reporter in Brussels.
Currently a reporter at Agence Europe, I mainly cover sustainability and budget matters, and I have been living in Brussels for three years.
As an environment reporter, I closely follow legislative and political developments, including the environmental omnibus, the Green Claims Directive, the revision of the EU REACH regulation on chemicals, PFAS-related issues, the Circular Economy Action Plan, the nature credits roadmap, the European Water Resilience Strategy, and the list of priority hazardous substances to be monitored in water.
Earlier this year, I also covered in detail the debate over NGO funding under the LIFE programme, the plastic pellet regulation, soil monitoring laws, the UN plastic treaty, the protection status of wolves, the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, the “one substance, one assessment” package, and several other files.
I have also reported on the Nature Restoration Law and the Deforestation Law—first at Actu.fr and later at Agence Europe—as well as on COP15 on biodiversity and the Waste Framework Directive. With this experience, I am already well-versed in key legislative files and have built a network of sources in these areas, which would allow me to hit the ground running.
Working at Agence Europe requires meticulous attention to detail, as we cover every stage of the legislative process. I would be eager to apply this expertise at Euractiv.
I am particularly motivated to join an ambitious newsroom like Euractiv at a time when environmental legislation is under increasing pressure, with many stakeholders openly pushing to revise Green Deal policies. I believe that my perseverance, adaptability, and strong motivation would make me a valuable addition to your team.
Thank you very much for considering my application. I would greatly welcome the opportunity to discuss this position further.
Sincerely,
Florent Servia
