FoodDrinkEurope is recruiting an enthusiastic and skilled communicator with a recent academic background or professional experience in food science, food law, nutrition, or environmental sustainability.

The successful applicant will join our Communications, Advocacy, and R&I team and work closely with FoodDrinkEurope’s policy departments. They will focus on developing effective and compelling communication and advocacy campaigns on the food industry’s priority topics, both within Brussels and across EU member states.

Applicants should demonstrate original thought, energy, and motivation to proactively support a more sustainable, competitive, and trusted food system.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Build advocacy and campaigns: Support policy teams in the creation and delivery of compelling communication and advocacy campaigns on the food industry's top policy priorities.
  • Translate complex policy topics: Work with and understand complex policy files, translating them into strong, accessible narratives.
  • Coordinate messaging across Europe: Strengthen internal communications within FoodDrinkEurope’s membership to ensure aligned, impactful messaging across the EU.
  • Create engaging content: Help develop articles, papers, videos, and graphics to support outreach and advocacy efforts.
  • Build influence: Grow personal networks and support direct advocacy to key stakeholders, representing the industry’s positions with EU policymakers and regulators, national associations, partners, and other key players.
  • Be ready for anything: Support the Communications, Advocacy, and R&I team in its many and varied tasks, including committee management, policy engagement, monitoring, and creating fun.

Qualifications

  • University degree or professional experience related to food science, food law, nutrition, environmental sustainability and science communications.
  • 1+ year of experience in a professional work environment. Experience in Brussels desired but not necessary.

Skills and competencies

  • Excellent writing, communication, networking and negotiation skills.
  • Affinity with the food and drink sector.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Fluent English, other EU languages an asset.
  • Hold an EU work permit.
