ABOUT THE ROLE
Are you passionate about EU energy policy and the future of Europe's electricity markets? Europex is seeking a talented and driven Policy Adviser to join our dynamic Brussels-based Secretariat full-time. In this pivotal role, you will work directly with the Secretary General and support the Power Markets Working Group, helping to shape key EU policies and contribute to the evolution of the Internal Market for Electricity. This is a unique opportunity to make a real impact at the heart of European energy policy-making.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Help drive the work of the Power Markets Working Group, working closely with its Head and members to advance key policy objectives.
- Track and analyse EU energy policy developments, with a focus on the Affordable Energy Action Plan, electricity market design, capacity allocation and congestion management, demand response, forward capacity allocation, balancing markets, bidding-zone configuration, market supervision and data reporting under REMIT, etc.
- Support targeted advocacy efforts with EU institutions, ACER, national ministries, and regulatory authorities to promote exchange-based wholesale power markets.
- Draft high-impact policy content, including position papers, consultation responses, presentations and speaking notes to strengthen Europex’s voice in policy debates.
- Plan and deliver external policy events, contributing to Europex’s thought leadership and visibility in the energy policy space.
- Support the organisation of internal meetings and events, ensuring smooth execution and strong member engagement.
- Coordinate and support studies in the field of energy, working closely with external consultants and facilitating internal collaboration.
- Build and nurture relationships with EU institutions, peer associations and key stakeholders across the Brussels energy policy landscape.
- Represent Europex externally, speaking at policy events, technical workshops, conferences and other high-level forums.
YOUR PROFILE
- A university degree in a relevant field such as energy, economics, finance, European studies, political science, law, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in EU affairs, with a solid grasp of power market dynamics and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of the EU institutional landscape and a deep understanding of EU policy-making processes.
- Excellent writing and communication skills in English, both written and spoken. Additional languages are a plus.
- Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across a wide range of stakeholders.
- Proven ability to translate complex technical issues into accessible messages tailored to different audiences and formats.
- Highly organised and detail-oriented, with a proactive and independent working style.
- Skilled in setting priorities, defending core positions when necessary and identifying opportunities to build consensus and reach compromises.Comfortable thriving in a multinational, multicultural work environment.
- Proficiency in standard office software and digital collaboration tools.
