EU Policy Reporter

Expiration Date
29 Dec 2024
Remedia Europe is looking to hire two experienced policy reporters in Brussels to lead work on news products aimed at professional subscribers.
Covering EU industrial and digital policy with newsletters and occasional longer features, these products will distinguish themselves from competitors with a tight focus on regulatory risk and by featuring industry voices alongside those of policymakers.
The ideal candidates will have experience covering one of these areas, be familiar with the Brussels policymaking process, and be able to quickly develop sources both in the EU institutions and in industry. Going head to head with established competitors, they must be able to find stories that others cannot, whether through scoops or unique angles.
These new positions offer the opportunity to be the face of a new product that aims to disrupt the Brussels policy reporting scene, and to grow into more senior roles as the product evolves. We’re looking for candidates with initiative and a nose for a good story.
Responsibilities
- Be the lead writer of a twice-weekly newsletter on a broad policy beat
- Stay on top of news developments with balanced and accurate coverage
- Develop sources in industry as well as among policymakers
- Find unique angles on set-piece stories and deliver occasional scoops
- Produce occasional news features or deeply sourced mini-investigations
Requirements
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and reliability in meeting deadlines
- Understanding of EU policymaking and the lobbying ecosystem
- Experience covering a specific beat related to industrial or digital policy
- An established network of sources and the ability to develop it further
- Strong written and spoken English; other languages are a plus
Details
- Salary of €40,000-€60,000, depending on experience
- Full-time positions, with a preference for staff contracts in Belgium
- Preference for Brussels-based candidates with a hybrid work arrangement
