The Party of the European Left is looking for a press officer to strengthen its team ahead of the European Parliament elections (and possibly beyond).

This is a fixed-term post until the end of June 2024 (possible extension for an indefinite period) based in Brussels.

As Press Officer your main role is to ensure the visibility and reputation of the European Left Party in the media.

We are looking for a proactive person to carry out the following tasks:
PRESS RELATIONS

  • Developing and implementing a press relations strategy and maintaining relations with the media.
  • Liaising with the various party entities to establish needs and information to be communicated to the media.
  • Drafting press releases for the European Left Party.
  • Ensuring media monitoring and press coverage reports.

CONTENT EDITOR

  • In collaboration with the political entities, research, plan, write and edit the content of the website.
  • In collaboration with the political entities, establishing communication pillars for the social networks and regularly producing content based on these pillars.
  • Managing and editing the EL newsletter (gathering information, writing, managing the automation platform).
  • In cooperation with the editor-in-chief and the editorial team, monitoring the Quistioni magazine, published twice a year by the PGE.

Prerequisites

  • Professional command of English language and good command of 2 out of the following 3 languages: French, Spanish and German.
  • Excellent knowledge of the European media landscape and at least 2 years’ experience in press relations.
  • A good knowledge of European public affairs.
  • Be proactive and autonomous but still a team player
  • Familiar with WordPress and Mailchimp
  • Basic technical skills or familiarity with audio visual equipment is an asset

This is a political task. We are looking for someone who knows and shares the political objectives of the EL, ideally with militant political experience in one of the member parties, observers and partners or in a leftwing media.
