EUA has an immediate opening for a Project & Policy Officer in the Higher Education Policy Unit
EUA is looking forward to welcoming a highly motivated professional in the Higher Education Policy Unit. The position will require travel in Europe and occasionally beyond – when the health and safety situation will allow. The Unit is working on a range of issues related to the Bologna Process, learning and teaching (including its digital aspects), lifelong learning, inclusion, internationalisation. 
THE ROLE AND TASKS OF THE PROJECT & POLICY OFFICER INCLUDE:
  • Policy work (including monitoring, information gathering, drafting and presentation of position papers/briefings)
  • Project work (development of project proposals, project planning and implementation, project management, including reporting and financial management)
  • Contribution to the content, design and implementation of thematic events 
  • A wide range of other tasks, as they emerge, such as liaising with EUA members and outside partners, preparing information and background materials, representing EUA at external meetings and events.
BACKGROUND, QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • Relevant higher education degree (preferably a Master’s degree)
  • Minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in the field of higher education 
  • Experience in and knowledge of the European Higher Education Area is an asset
  • Experience in project management 
  • Writing skills and proven experience in drafting different types of documents (reports, policy briefs, news stories) in English
  • Experience working in a multicultural and multilingual environment
  • Excellent command of English and at least one other European language 
  • Sound analytical and organisational skills 
  • Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills 
  • Strong PC skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) with an interest in learning to use new tools
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, against tight deadlines and in a complex international environment 
  • Ability to engage and connect with a range of different stakeholders and partners, including EUA members, policy makers, university networks, representatives from other stakeholder groups present in higher education policy making.
WHAT EUA OFFERS
The Association offers a one-year contract (renewable) under Belgian law and an attractive remuneration package, including the full reimbursement of public transport costs, lunch vouchers and a pension scheme. 
Though staff currently work from home due to the Covid-19 crisis, the position is based in Brussels. The successful candidate would be expected to relocate in the near future, if not already based in Brussels.
