The German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) GmbH is a globally active federal enterprise. It supports the Federal Government in international cooperation for sustainable development and in international educational work. The GIZ helps people and societies to develop their own perspectives and improve their living conditions.

The GIZ Brussels Representative Office is looking for interns for a period of 6 months from 01 March 2020. A shorter internship period is not possible.

We offer you an exciting and varied job in a dynamic team. You will gain an intensive insight into the structures and working methods of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH as well as practical work experience in the direct environment of the European Union.


  • Observation and analysis of the activities of the European institutions
  • Organisation and execution of events
  • Participation in and reporting on events
  • Research tasks for the staff and the Director of the Representative Office
  • Administrative support

Your Profile:

  • Fluent in spoken and written German and English, knowledge of French is an advantage.
  • University studies (recently completed bachelor’s or current/recently completed master's degree) in social/economic sciences, law, political science or regional sciences; or a comparable degree programme. Please note: the completion date must not be more than 6 months prior to the start of the internship.
  • Good understanding of the functioning of the European institutions, first practical experience in a European institution is desirable.
  • Ideally already a basic knowledge of international cooperation issues in the European context.
