In-house editor and writer

The International Society of Nephrology is a leading medical association dedicated to advancing worldwide kidney health.

The Brussels office of the ISN is currently seeking to recruit an in-house editor and writer to produce content for the society’s 8,000 professional members in 150 countries.

Job description

The successful candidate will have responsibility for

  • Drafting and editing content for the Society’s communication channels
  • Managing the editorial calendar and ensure timely publication
  • Liaising with colleagues both within the Brussels office and among the wider membership to gather information for content.
  • Ensuring that the quality of output is of the high standard expected.
  • Working with the Marketing and Communications Director and the social media manager to coordinate output
  • Ensuring that the content on the ISN website is kept fresh and up to date.

Skills and experience required

  • Experience as a writer and editor within a similar organization
  • Mother-tongue English (other languages a plus)
  • Good networking skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Strong organizational ability.

The role will require requires 20-24 hours per week, with the opportunity for some remote working.

About the ISN

Since its foundation in 1960, the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) has pursued the worldwide advancement of education, science and patient care in nephrology.

The Society represents a wide international network and provides an efficient platform for timely scientific exchange, debate and dissemination between healthcare professionals around the world. It is also dedicated to addressing the disparity between the developing and developed worlds in the research, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of kidney disease.

The ISN has 10,000 professional members from more than 126 countries. In addition, it closely collaborates with over 70 national and regional nephrology societies worldwide, representing about 20,000 professionals. The ISN continues to develop and consolidate several programs, initiatives and partnerships that will help to further deliver on its two overarching goals: reducing the incidence and impact of kidney disease worldwide, and making the society a leading international organization for all issues related to the science and practice of nephrology.
