EuRIC is currently looking for a full-time Scientific Officer to join our team from August 2019 on.

EuRIC is the Confederation representing the interests of the European recycling industries. EuRIC brings together European and national recycling associations from more than 20 EU and EFTA countries and represents their interests by acting as the trusted interface between the recycling industry and the European Union. We serve as a platform for information, cooperation and exchange of best practices on all European recycling matters. More information about EuRIC:


  • Monitor and analyse the implications for the recycling industry of EU environmental legislation, in particular of waste, chemicals and industrial emissions legislation, among others;
  • Draft policy statements, positions and relevant policy documents as well as prepare responses to public consultations based on members’ input;
  • Provide scientific guidance to members on the regulatory impact of EU legislation, standards and BREFs of relevance to the recycling industry;
  • Advocacy of positions agreed by EuRIC before the European institutions and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Manage projects and activities with members and coordinating the work of EuRIC working groups.

Desired profile

  • University degree in environmental sciences, chemical engineering or biology;
  • Strong interest in environment-related topics;
  • Ability to analyse complex scientific and legal issues and communicate them in layman’s terms;
  • Fluent written and spoken English. Knowledge of other EU languages is an asset;
  • Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills and entrepreneurial mindset;
  • Ability to prioritise work, deal with a variety of topics with strict deadlines and work independently;
  • Proven computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.);
  • Ability to work flexibly, including occasional international short-term travel.

 Professional experience

  • Between 1 to 3 years of relevant professional experience in EU environmental affairs;
  • Prior knowledge or willingness to learn about EU decision-making processes;
  • Prior professional experience in the waste management or recycling industry would be a plus.
