Would you like to experience the EU decision making process from up close? We have a Public Affairs (PA) internship position available at the Dutch Banking Association (DBA) in Brussels for the period of September 2019 - January 2020.

The Dutch Banking Association’s Brussels office follows European and international politics and legislative developments which are of interest to Dutch banks. This is a broad agenda, with a large diversity of topics including financial regulation, taxation, Brexit, Fintech, security and sustainability. During the internship you will monitor publications, attend and report on events and debates, contribute to the organisation of events, conduct background research and attend meetings with stakeholders.


  • contribute to reporting and advice on several European legislative files
  • organise and participate in various events
  • taking part in meetings with our members (Dutch banks) and stakeholders


  • you are currently in the course of a Masters degree or just finished
  • a very good command of the English both written and spoken, Dutch is an advantage
  • a good understanding of the basics of legislative procedures and the EU political system
  • politically interested and affinity with the financial sector
  • excellent research and organisation skills
  • independent, flexible and pro-active
  • communicative and culturally sensitive

  • there is a compensation for the internship and expenses.

About the DBA:  The Nederlandse Vereniging van Banken (NVB - Dutch Banking Association) was founded in 1989. The NVB is the representative voice of the Dutch banking community with around 65 members, large and small, domestic and international banks. At the European level the Association is a member of the European Banking Federation and has a Brussels office to represent the Dutch banking sector in the European policy formation and legislative processes. The NVB works towards a service-oriented, sustainable and internationally competitive banking industry. The headquarters of the NVB are in Amsterdam.
