The Capitalisation and Communication Officer will, under the responsibility of the Head of Unit – Capitalisation & Communication, support the delivery of thematic capitalisation projects, be responsible for URBACT’s overall editorial and publication strategy, and ensure coherence between capitalisation and communication activities.

Main tasks consist on:

1. Capitalisation activities

  • Coordinating and following up delivery of selected capitalisation projects, particularly those with a strong digital presence, including management of programme experts;
  • drafting Terms of Reference for external service providers, assessing proposals, coordinating thematic experts and service, assessing thematic content and outputs
  • organising thematic seminars, policy labs, other capitalisation events (incl. preparation and delivery);
  • ensuring the overall coherence and integration of capitalisation outputs and the ‘Knowledge Hub’ brand in the wider editorial strategy, providing support for the design, structure and layout of capitalisation products;
  • designing communication campaigns for capitalisation activities (work-streams, policy labs, studies, etc.);
  • assisting with coordination of overall work programme for URBACT thematic experts, support with coordination meetings.

2. Editorial strategy:

  • Contributing to the design of the editorial strategy;
  • contributing to editorial planning, incl. editorial meetings, particularly with input from capitalisation actions;
  • responsible for ensuring the content for capitalisation and communications material (eg institutional brochure, project results publication, etc.).

3. Other communications tasks:

  • Contributes to the development and delivery of the programme Communications strategy;
  • contributes to the coordination and delivery of major capitalisation and communications events (eg. Thematic seminars, programme level conferences, etc.);
  • can be called to assist the other JS staff with the organisation of events related to specific strands of activities (networking, capacity-building, etc.);
  • works in close cooperation with Partnership officer to ensure partnership strategy (design and implementation) and National URBACT Points action plans are in line with capitalisation actions.

4. Programme Implementation:

  • Liaise closely with the Communication Officer and with the Partnerships Officer in the development of activities;
  • contribute to the preparation, implementation and follow up of the decisions of the URBACT III Monitoring Committee related to capitalisation and communication activities;
  • assist the Head of Unit in monitoring the Programme budget and performance indicators;
  • contribute to the production of the annual implementation reports in accordance with European Commission requirements.
