Call for UNESCO intern - Mobile Learning Week 2019

Duties and responsibilities:

Support the work of UNESCO’s ICT in education team on Mobile Learning Week. The 2019 conference will be held in late March under the theme ‘Skills for a connected world’. In particular, the incumbent will:

  • Provide assistance to team members in preparing background documents of MLW 2018.
  • Support the drafting of letters and other messages of general correspondence. Respond to email inquiries relating to call for proposals and registration under the supervision of UNESCO programme specialists.
  • Help organizing the review of presentation proposals received.
  • Help coordinating logistics around the event, including internal administrative tasks and liaising with exhibitors.
  • Assist the development and distribution of communications materials using tools such as MailChimp.
  • Update the online system for call for proposals and registrations
  • Assist in synthesizing the statistics of participation of conferences and the feedback to the post-conference survey, and provide inputs for the conference report.

Learning objectives:

  • Attend meetings hosted by the UNESCO Education Sector as well as outside Sectors in order to gain broader familiarity with UNESCO’s work and mission.
  • Develop a basic understanding of UNESCO’s mobile learning programme and a preliminary understanding of UNESCO’s other ICT in education program.
  • Develop knowledge about the mission and priorities of various UNESCO partner organizations working in the field of mobile learning.
  • Gain experience working in a multicultural team and for an international organization.
  • Cultivate project management skills.

Additional information:

  • Costs/compensation: UNESCO interns are not paid. Internship work complements and enriches ongoing educational studies. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation and living expenses must be borne either by interns and/or external institutions. Selected interns are encouraged to seek funding from outside organizations.
  • Visa: Interns are responsible for obtaining and financing any necessary visas. UNESCO does not provide visa support to interns.
  • Travel: Interns must arrange and finance their travel to and from Paris to undertake the internship. Interns work full time from UNESCO Headquarters in Paris and, except in extremely rare instances, do not travel for work outside of Paris or France.
  • Medical insurance: Interns must show proof of valid medical insurance coverage. The insurance must be valid for the duration of the internship.
