Position Purpose & Key Responsibilities

This new position represents an exciting opportunity to assume a leading commercial role in a growing team and company. The Senior Sales Associate will lead commercial activities for the SFS team throughout Europe, while  supporting other markets, in Sustainalytics’ mission to remain the leading provider of sustainability solutions for the finance industry.

The core responsibility is to engage with potential customers and their intermediaries to integrate sustainable finance solutions into their product offering. The candidate will be responsible for managing and expanding our relationships with leading global underwriters, lenders and corporates, turning qualified opportunities into sales.

As the face of Sustainalytics in the European Green Finance market, the Senior Sales Associate will need to quickly assume external profile through speaking opportunities, networking and engagement in market development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to and implementing the SFS business development strategy;
  • Act as a trusted advisor to underwriters and lenders on how to integrate sustainable finance solutions into their product offering; 
  • Grow and maintain a robust sales pipeline; 
  • Respond to requests for proposals; 
  • Stay on top of market developments, identify and share product innovation opportunities;  
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking groups; 
  • Build, maintain and extend professional networks;
  • Further develop ESG and Sustainable Finance industry knowledge.

Qualifications: 

The ideal candidate needs to be a genuine team player who can reach objectives individually, as well as through close collaboration and coordination with other team members, based on Sustainalytics’ relationship-focused consultative sales philosophy.  The candidate should have the following qualifications:

  • Alignment with Sustainalytics’ mission, vision and values;
  • Sales experience (1-2 yrs requisite, 3+ highly desired);
  • Previous success in new business development and prospecting;
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainable finance;
  • Experience in the finance sector required, understanding of debt capital markets and, or corporate finance highly desirable;
  • 5-8+ years related work experience;
  • Commercial mindset, innovative and entrepreneurial;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills;
  • English fluency required;
  • French, Spanish, German, Dutch language skills highly desirable;
  • Ability to travel frequently to European financial centres and occasional global travel required; and
  • A related degree (finance, business desired)
