COMMUNICATIONS AND EVENTS OFFICER VACANCY at EURASHE

EURASHE is the European Association of Institutions in Higher Education that offer professionally orientated programmes and are engaged in applied and profession-related research within the Bologna cycles. The role of the association is primarily to represent, within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), the interests of professional higher education by engaging in policy-making and to provide members with a platform for communication, information and exchange of views, with a focus on issues relevant to the future development of higher education. EURASHE has been developing and running a number of international projects in line with its priorities in order to follow and understand better the trends and various approaches across Europe, to gather input for our policies, to share experience among members and to promote good practices. These projects address mainly the role and mission of professional higher education, innovative learning and teaching including various approaches to work-based learning, quality of higher education, applied research and role of higher education in regional development.

EURASHE is looking for a Communications and Events Officer to join its dynamic Secretariat starting on the earliest term possible in 2018.

ROLE

The Communications and Events Officer will closely cooperate with and under the responsibility of the Secretary General and relevant policy officers within a relatively small, active team on a variety of tasks. The job requires a fair amount of flexibility, creativity, autonomy and overview of the relevant fields of EURASHE agenda. Attention has to be paid also to various members’ expectations and their awareness and engagement in EURASHE activities. Part of the capacity may be devoted to supporting management and reporting of the EURASHE projects.

Tasks:

  • Develop and implement communication strategy in line with the overall EURASHE strategy addressing various authorities, members, partners and other stakeholders. Develop appropriate mix of communication tools reflecting the specifics of various relevant target groups including among other:
  • Create and write EURASHE newsletter and membership bulletin on a monthly basis
  • Update website, intranet/members’ area and social media
  • Promote and communicate EURASHE events, projects and activities
  • Monitor and distribute news on European higher education policies, project applications and outcomes
  • Interact with members and potential members
  • Update databases of members, partners and relevant target groups
  • Develop, coordinate, plan and organise EURASHE events (annual conferences, seminars, peer-learning events, internal meetings, etc.)
  • Develop and design EURASHE publications, documents for EURASHE bodies, annual reports
  • General support to the Secretary General and team members in implementation of EURASHE activities, events and projects in particular as regards information, reporting and organisation

PROFILE

We are looking for an independent, motivated team player able to work within an international environment, flexible, willing to learn and to develop his/her competences in communication, project management and professional higher education.

Requirements:

  • A higher education degree, preferably in communications, information management, political sciences, European studies or another relevant field or having a substantial practical experience in the field of communication
  • Strong writing and editing skills and experience in writing promotional and policy texts in English
  • Near-native command of English, both spoken and written; working knowledge of other languages is an asset
  • Understanding of EU decision making processes and institutions
  • Previous experience in communication, information management, organising events and/or running projects
  • CMS website editing skills (WordPress, Joomla, etc.) and social media management skills
  • Good knowledge of office software and graphic design programmes (e.g. InDesign, Adobe Illustrator)
  • Good communication, organisational, interpersonal skills within a multinational environment
  • Active and creative approach to tasks
  • Ability to work on deadlines and independently, flexibility and accuracy

Experience in EU-funded projects, within an international environment and/or with membership-based organisations similar to EURASHE and the comprehension of higher education policies are an asset.

EURASHE TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Communications and Events Officer in close cooperation with the Secretary General and relevant policy officers
  • Location: Ravensteingalerij 27/3, 1000 Brussels, Belgium
  • A full-time position (38 hours/week) with flexible hours
  • An indicative starting gross monthly salary between EUR 2000 – 2400 according to experience
  • Additional benefits: transportation allowance, meal vouchers and 40-day annual leave
  • Working in a team within an international context
  • Occasional travels within Europe
