RMIT Europe, based in Barcelona is a coordinating centre for extending RMIT University's international engagement, and strategically growing our collaborative research and mobility activity in Europe, which is lead by the Executive Director, Europe on behalf of the RMIT Europe Board. It facilitates RMIT's engagement with European universities and industry partners, and supports trans regional collaborative projects, with a particular focus on partnerships across Europe, Australia, Asia, and Latin America.

The objectives for RMIT Europe are to:

  • Strengthen RMIT's reputation and profile in Europe and globally
  • Increase research funding and activity, with a focus on European partnerships and fund sources
  • Develop collaborative postgraduate academic programs with European partners
  • Strategically focus RMIT student mobility engagement in Europe and grow opportunities for student exchange and international experience
  • Leverage and grow industry partnerships to support the quality and relevance of our education.

The Role & Your Responsibilities

The Company Accountant is a key financial role in the separate legal entity that is a wholly own subsidiary of one of the largest Australian University. The position responsible for ensuring that the University’s taxation, management and statutory reports comply with all financial accounting, taxation and governance requirement. The role is also required to manage the day to day accounting and reporting management of RMIT Europe and enabling Financial Services Group in Melbourne to have accurate timely and relevant information on financial accounts and governance matters.

The role provides timely, accurate and relevant information to the Executive Director and Associate Director, Planning and Resources of RMIT Europe on all key financial requirements.

Skills & Experience Required

As the ideal applicant you will have significant experience in financial and management accounting and tax management. You will also have a high degree of client focus and demonstrated ability to build relationships with stakeholders and team members. Significant high level ability to understand complex issues and resolve problems through logically applied solutions and foster a commitment to customer service standards and business improvement. Your ability to adapt to changing work practices and ability to act independently and as part of a team will be imperative to your success in this role. High level proficiency in English, Spanish and Catalan (preferred). The ability to work in Spain is essential.
