Job Description

You are a talented web developer looking for new challenges and opportunities. We are a growing communications agency focused on the EU institutions, with an excellent reputation for quality and a firm commitment to innovation, particularly in the adaption of social media tools to EU communications.
 
Principal Tasks
You will be in charge of developing websites and other online tools, including inter alia the following tasks:

• Setting up websites using Content Management Systems (CMS), e.g.:
  • analysing needs and advising on the most appropriate CMS,
  • installing CMS on servers,
  • installing, bugfixing, customising and developing CMS extensions,
  • translating designs into the CMS;
• Supporting social media strategies, e.g.:
  • setting up online presences on social media platforms,
  • using platform APIs and creating mashups,
  • setting up digital dashboards and other monitoring tools, etc.;
• Training colleagues in using these tools (CMS, social media platforms, etc.);
• Monitoring online statistics and making recommendations;
• Supporting mass mailing campaigns;
• Managing web servers for the company and its clients;
• Advising on the company's wider IT infrastructure development.

Your Profile
Please indicate your level of skills and experience in the following areas, noting in particular which languages, platforms and tools you are most familiar with.

Essential skills

• Demonstrated ability of implementing modern web projects and expertise with relevant technologies, e.g.:
  • W3C standards compliant XHTML, CSS, Javascript, XML, etc,
  • CMS (particularly open-source, LAMP based) and databases,
  • installing and customising CMS extensions,
  • writing & fixing code, particularly in PHP,
  • basic Linux commands for server administration,
  • web statistics;
• Ability to manage and follow IT partners and subcontractors;
• Good command of English (oral, reading).

Desirable skills
In addition, some of the following skills and experience are desirable:

• Semantic markup and Search Engine Optimisation;
• Accessibility and usability issues;
• Managing online communities and platforms;
• Online communications campaigns;
• CRM and related technologies (e.g., online registration);
• Online design skills;
• Information/knowledge management;
• Information architecture and website ergonomics;
• Online multimedia and/or audiovisual skills;
• Power user of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.);
• Other languages, particularly French and German.
