Strategic Planning Analyst
 

Grade: B2 (Co-ordinated Organizations’ scale)

General

  • The post of Strategic Planning Analyst is located within the WCO’s Deputy Secretary General (DSG) office and the post holder reports to the DSG. 
  • He/she assists the DSG in the elaboration, management and implementation follow up of the Strategic Plan and related activities.

Main functions

Strategic Plan

  • Assist the DSG in the coordination of the agenda and meetings for the elaboration of the Strategic Plan and Operational Plans.
  • Develop and produce written documents on Strategic Plan and operational plans matters, and other matters related to WCO work.
  • Organize and manage follow up meetings for the implementations of the Strategic Plan and operational plans.
  • Assist the DSG in the follow up of regional priorities.
  • Edit and proofread draft documents related to the Strategic Plan.
  • Contributing to the WCO’s Strategic Plan; analysing and coordinating Directorate’s input and ensuring a harmonised organizational approach to the Plan.
  • Perform such other duties, functions and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Deputy Secretary General.

Other functions

  • Write and edit Web articles and press releases and arrange for their loading on the WCO Web site.
  • Meeting WCO visitors (individuals as well as groups), updating WCO documentation, assisting with the organization of WCO communication and promotional events, attending external meetings and events, drafting meetings reports and handling requests for information.
  • Preparing the report minutes for meetings such as the Policy Commission and Council.
  • Providing assistance to the Office of the Deputy Secretary General : drafting and following up miscellaneous correspondence sent to Members, international organizations and the private sector.  
  • Contributing to the drafting and proofreading in English of information and promotional documents submitted as appropriate and required, as well as updating texts, documents, files and presentations falling within the Deputy Secretary General’s office.
  • Providing assistance to the Office of the Secretary General : replacing the Assistant to the Secretary General during his/her absence, drafting and following up miscellaneous correspondence sent to Members, international organizations and the private sector.

Key skills and job requirements

  • Applicants for this post must have completed at least a University degree in a subject of relevance to the job requirements, or possess an equivalent professional qualification.
  • Applicants must have a minimum of three (3) years’ professional experience in the areas described above.
  • Proven drafting abilities and excellent presentation skills in English and French (both written and spoken).
  • Meticulous, methodical and attentive to details.
  • The applicant must be a team player capable of working under pressure in a multicultural environment and completing tasks within the deadlines set.
  • In-depth knowledge of standard office automation applications, including Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat and Access.
