Role:

The Senior Manager develops and executes EFPIA’s priorities in the field of international (non-EU) pricing and reimbursement and market access of pharmaceuticals. The role requires liaising regularly with industry experts on pricing and reimbursement and external stakeholders, and defining bold strategies to effectively address market access barriers in international priority countries through the EU trade policy agenda. 

The Senior Manager reports to the Executive Director International Affairs of EFPIA. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor, assess and identify trade policy solutions to most relevant market access barriers, related to pricing, reimbursement, and procurement of medicines in international priority markets. Coordinate and advocate for EFPIA’s related positioning to support the work of EFPIA’s international groups; 
  • Work closely with EFPIA (Executive) Directors on Market Access and HTA to secure full alignment between European and international agendas;
  • Coordinate with various EFPIA market access experts and policy specialists from member companies and national associations to secure an effective pooling of expertise and knowledge;
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director International Affairs, coordinate with local and regional trade associations to nurture full and effective collaboration in advancing EFPIA trade and international market priorities and securing alignment of global industry priorities in the field of market access;
  • Build close relationships with relevant EU policy and decision-makers (Commission, EU Member States, European Parliament) to advocate for effective policy solutions to address market access barriers in international priority markets;
  • Define coordinated actions and cooperation with other healthcare stakeholders (other industry associations, patient groups, healthcare providers);
  • Become a thought leader on pricing, reimbursement and procurement of medicines in international priority markets by commissioning applied research work in this field, by building a network among think tanks and academic institutes, and by producing thought pieces regularly;
  • Represent EFPIA at high level external meetings, events and conferences, in Europe and internationally, including through expert presentations. 

Minimum qualifications:

  • University degree in e.g. (health) economics, health policy, European or international affairs (with relevant health expertise). 
  • 8+ years of relevant working experience (company, public sector or associations) having acquired advanced knowledge of European and international healthcare systems, pricing, access and reimbursement processes for pharmaceuticals; .
  • Proven knowledge of European policy-making and trade policy;
  • Fluency in English with proven experience in drafting position papers/memos and in public presentations. Command of additional languages a plus;
  • Good knowledge of MS Office software package. 

The following would be assets:

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, medical devices or other health industry in market access policy positions.
  • Existing networks both in Brussels and at international levels.

  • Pro-active, self-motivating professional with strong inter-personal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to constantly evolving external and internal environment and to work to tight deadlines.
