Job Description
Salary: £43,600 - £69,700 per annum (salary offered will depend on level of expertise)
Location: Based in London SW1
The Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem) is the regulator for Britain’s gas and electricity industries which have a turnover of £36 billion. Our role is to protect consumers and enable them to secure value for money and benefit from reliable supplies.
This year will be a critical time for Ofgem and the UK in terms of European energy policy as the third package of European legislation has now been adopted and attention turns to implementation. You will play a key role in the development and implementation of European legislation. Working closely with colleagues across Ofgem, you will communicate and develop necessary policy changes. Therefore, you will need to demonstrate well-honed project management skills and the ability to work with detailed legislation.
Key requirements
- good understanding of European energy legislation (including the third energy package)
- proven track record in managing and delivering major projects against challenging deadlines
- wide-ranging expertise in developing policy in a commercial or public sector environment, ideally gained within the energy sector
- proven communication and leadership expertise in a policy analysis and policy delivery environment
- expertise in influencing at senior levels within the industry, Government and in Europe
- familiarity of managing and drafting key policy documents
- educated to degree level or with an equivalent professional qualification
