Senior Fundraising Manager

Job Description
Role:
Reporting to the Director of Development (who provides strategic oversight of the fundraising operation and leads on senior level donor relations) the Senior Fundraising Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Crisis Group’s government and foundation fundraising activities. Supported by two full-time Fundraising Officers, he/she will oversee the preparation of fundraising proposals and donor reports, ensure proper and timely donor servicing and grant management, and maintain effective relationships with current and prospective government and foundation donors. He/she will work in close cooperation with the Director of Development in setting targets and developing fundraising strategies.
Responsibilities:

Establishing and maintaining close relationships with current and prospective donors and, in cooperation with the Director of Development, ensuring regular interactions are maintained with donors at the most appropriate level on both sides;

Jointly with the Director of Development, formulating fundraising strategies and advising Senior Management in resource mobilisation matters;

Acting as a channel of information between field-based analysts, central management and the organisation’s outside contacts; facilitating donor access to Crisis Group experts as needed and useful.

Overseeing preparation of detailed fundraising proposals and narrative and financial grant reports for submission to government and foundation donors; finding ways to reconcile donor interests and Crisis Group reporting and advocacy priorities;

Gathering detailed information from Program and Project Directors with respect to recent project outputs and future activities for use in funding proposals and reports;

Working closely with Crisis Group’s Finance Department to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and grant management in line with donor requirements;

Ensuring comprehensive and accurate record keeping (including grant files, donor profiles, funding tables etc.)

Updating relevant fundraising / donor information on the organisation’s website, in its annual report and other outreach material.

Line managing two full-time Fundraising Officers;

Other duties as necessary to ensure the smooth running of the development function as it relates to governments and foundations.
Requirements:

A minimum of 5-8 years experience in fundraising and government relations, including at senior level;

Solid understanding of grant-making processes in the government and foundation sectors;

Extensive experience in the the preparation of funding proposals and donor reports and in general grant management in an international context;

Firm grasp of the technical/legal aspects of contribution management;

Experience in managing staff;

Excellent and demonstrated English language writing skills;

Highly-developed organisational, management and inter-personal skills;

Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines; and
-
Good knowledge of international relations and conflict-related issues.
