Job announcement:  Senior Executive Assistant

The International Monetary Fund office in Paris is looking to hire a full-time Senior Executive Assistant.  The initial appointment would be for one year (renewable). The position is governed by the employment conditions of the IMF and carries a highly competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications.

The IMF Paris Office:

The Paris Office provides analytical, liaison, outreach, and support services throughout Europe to management, the European department, and other IMF departments. Among the main tasks of the office are:

  • Supporting management and senior staff while in Europe;
  • Producing research and analysis of key economic issues facing Europe.
  • Acting as Fund representatives to the OECD;
  • Representing the Fund in a variety of European conferences and fora, organizing events and press briefings for management and senior staff, and conducting liaison work with journalists, parliamentarians, think tanks, and civil society;
  • Organizing and supporting outreach events in Europe for the Fund flagship publications, regional reports, and Fund research publications as well as analytical work by the European Department;
  • Supporting the Fund’s staff recruiting efforts by conducting job interviews for Economist Program candidates in several European countries.

The Paris office also works jointly with the office in Brussels to represent the Fund to institutions of the European Union (Commission, ECB, EIB, etc.).


The Executive Assistant would provide secretarial and administrative support to the IMF Paris office staff, as well as for visiting senior IMF officials from Washington, DC. Responsibilities could include document preparation, organizing appointments and event planning, making travel arrangements for professional staff, and handling logistical, financial, and organizational issues for the office. Working in a relatively small office entails being flexible on both the workload and the nature of the tasks to be undertaken, and able to contribute positively to the work of the team.  

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years of experience in related administrative work in the public or private sector, or in another international organization.
  • Fully bilingual in English and French, including the ability to prepare, proofread, and format documents in either language.
  • Proficiency in current computerized office equipment and software applications (including Word, Excel, and Access), and a demonstrated ability to update technical skills. The ability to prepare PowerPoint presentations, graphs, and charts would be an asset.
  • Ability and experience in organizing events.
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently, establish priorities, manage multiple tasks effectively, and work under pressure.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and to respond flexibly to new challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Availability to work occasionally outside of regular office hours, if needed.
