Huawei’s Brussels office is looking for a Senior Communications Manager with a positive, can-do attitude and the ability to work in a highly dynamic and international environment. Our ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in managing media relations and projects, and a deep understanding of the EU media and political landscape, as well as knowledge of geopolitical developments and government relations. The Senior Communications Manager will work as a valuable member of our communications team and the wider PACD office and family, leading projects and relations with external stakeholders.

As the Communications Manager, you will help develop a high-quality communications strategy and plan for corporate-level communications and events. The position requires developing and maintaining good relations with the media and with other external and internal stakeholders to maintain a positive and solid business environment in Europe.

You will support the Director of Communications and the other senior communications managers and experts. Tasks will range from organizing media activities, internal and external briefings and press events to composing press releases together with our agencies and contractors. You will be responsible for responding to media inquiries, coming up with engaging and informative content, and assisting in managing social media and digital communications. You may also be required on to speak publicly on behalf of the office or company. Being able to lead projects teams and multi task is essential.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong and high-quality communications skills in English. Other languages such as French or Dutch would also be an advantage, but are not necessary.

This position is located in Brussels Belgium.

 Responsibilities

  • As a spokesperson of Huawei, convey Huawei’s key messages in varied situations.
  • Support senior team members, the Director of Communications and the Brussels Office President, as well as HQ
  • Help plan and implement communications activities together with the team and PR agencies.
  • Engage with media to increase awareness of Huawei
  • Crisis communications management.
  • Enhance Huawei’s brand and corporate image and media visibility
  • Press releases, interview set-ups and other media communication
  • Business travel will be required.

 Desired skills and experience

  • Degree level qualifications in a relevant discipline (such as communications, journalism, media, marketing).
  • At least 2-4 years of relevant experience in a corporate communications, public affairs and/or media
  • Profound understanding of media landscape and media relationship management in the EU and globally.
  • Professional skills on corporate level communications and PR
  • Experience in crisis communications
  • Experience in working with PR agencies
  • Experience from telecom or ICT industry is a plus but not necessary
  • Creativity, the ability to be a team player, proactivity, decision making abilities, a can-do attitude and being a self-starter are required.
  • Ability to cope with high pressure and meet multiple concurrent deadlines and multi-task are essential qualities.
  • Respect of different cultures in a truly international working environment are key.
