CEFS stands for le Comité Européen des Fabricants de Sucre, or in English: the European Association of Sugar Manufacturers. CEFS is an international non-profit organisation and a recognised interlocutor for the EU Institutions since 1953, sharing knowledge and technical expertise on sugar. CEFSmembership is composed of sugar-producing companies in the EU and Switzerland.

CEFS is recruiting a Scientific & Regulatory Affairs Officer for a full-time position to reinforce its department dealing with issues related to food/feed law and nutrition and agronomy.

You will report directly to the Scientific & Regulatory Affairs Adviser.

Responsibilities

The candidate will closely assist the Scientific & Regulatory Affairs Adviser on the following matters:

  • Monitoring the regulatory evolutions on a variety of topics (such as food/feed labelling and safety, hygiene, pesticide uses, additives, organic production, new breeding techniques…)
  • Digesting and reporting pertinent information to CEFS’ members
  • Coordinating internal work within CEFS members (such as meeting preparation and follow up, consultations…)
  • Liaising with other stakeholder organisations
  • Providing support for CEFS’ interaction with EU institutions

Education, qualifications and personal skills

The successful candidate will have:

  • A legal or scientific university degree related to the aforementioned issues that CEFS follows;
  • Excellent oral and written English is essential. Fluency in other European languages would be an asset;
  • Ability to simultaneously deal with very diverse topics, both on the political and technical aspects
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • General knowledge of EU institutions and policy making process is an asset;
  • Rigorous, self-motivated team player with ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and working relations in a multi-national environment
