Job Description: Research Manager

EPRA is currently seeking a Research Manager. This full-time position is based in Brussels and will report directly to the Director of Research & Indexes. The individual will be responsible for working with the research and index team, while helping to execute and achieve team goals.

As a successful new Research Manager, your primary responsibilities will include (though will not be limited to):

  • In charge of in-house and commissioned research publications for the listed real estate sector.
  • Developing and communicating EPRA’s position on macroeconomic indicators, regulatory changes and market developments.
  • Publishing monthly commentary on macroeconomic developments relevant for the European listed real estate sector.
  • Contributing to EPRA’s mission to promote and educate investors on the merit of property allocation.
  • Initiating, leading and managing research events and webinars.
  • Contributing towards the Index management of the FTSE EPRA/NAREIT Global Index.


  • Serve as a senior expert for developing and presenting EPRA’s stance that is objective and backed by quantitative analysis.
  • Ensure an accurate and widespread understanding of EPRA’s mission in the market.
  • Responsible for research and analysis of environmental and social issues from an investment perspective.
  • Act as an internal consultant on macroeconomic developments by educating both colleagues and members, keeping them abreast of market changes.
  • Take responsibility for organising networking events aimed at the research community of real estate investment firms.
  • Work closely with the index and events teams to incorporate corporate events and publication deadlines.
  • Partner with the various departments to create synergies in contributing to EPRA’s targets.
  • Monitor market developments to ensure that EPRA’s research narrative continues to be leading edge and covering the gap left by commercial research publications.
  • If required, take responsibility for communication with the Academic Research advisory committee and, in conjunction with the Committee’s chairman, ensure its members remain informed of regional developments and are equipped to utilise data and research in broadening the investor base for listed real estate in Europe.
  • Work closely with the Director of Research & Indexes on assessing key regulatory and market developments in the BIS field to ensure that EPRA’s approach continues to be at the leading edge of best practice. 
  • Support and collaborate on investor outreach road shows.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum postgraduate with a degree in finance, economics, real estate or accounting
  • PhD, CFA or MBA preferred with at least 5-7 years post graduate professional experience
  • Sell-side, investment management, corporate finance, and/or journalist experience preferred
  • An understanding of and interest in ESG issues as long-term investment considerations
  • Proven track record of producing research reports and analysis
  • The ability to build and maintain successful relationships with colleagues across the organisation and with external parties
  • The ability to analyse and address queries under time pressure
  • Detail oriented and persistent to see things through to completion whilst managing multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Organised, self-reliant and self-motivated
  • The ability to communicate clearly and persuasively in writing and orally, including with senior colleagues, investee company representatives, and the public
  • Good English skills a must and fluency in additional Western European language an advantage
