VDZ is an internationally renowned scientific institute which focuses on practical research and on providing an extensive service portfolio in the field of cement and concrete. We offer solutions for optimising the production process and provide answers to questions concerning environmental protection, the certification of building materials and management systems as well as training. Our customers are manufacturers of cement and construction materials and construction companies in Europe and increasingly worldwide. At the same time we are engaged in numerous research projects at both European and national level. We cooperate closely with ECRA, the European Cement Research Academy. We currently employ around 200 qualified staff members

To strengthen our research activities we are looking for a Research Funding Project Manager (m/f/d) based in Duesseldorf.

Responsibilities / job description:

  • Follow EU and German research programmes and explore funding opportunities for various research activities along the value chain of cement and concrete
  • Establish and maintain relationships with relevant funding organisations and cooperate with them on behalf of VDZ and ECRA
  • Assist the establishment of research consortia and manage cooperation within these consortia Supervise applications for new research projects and support the respective technical and financial reporting
  • Support VDZ’s scientific staff in communication and management of (in particular EU) research projects vis-à-vis EU DG Research and project coordinators
  • Support VDZ’s financial accounting in allocating VDZ staff’s working time to research projects Support and participate in consulting projects towards VDZ and ECRA members regarding funding opportunities

Profile / skills and experience:

  • Profound knowledge of EU research funding schemes and procedures
  • Proven track record in applying for EU research funding and administrating respective research projects and consortia
  • Excellent communication skills and excellent command of written and spoken English and German Desirable: knowledge of German national funding schemes
  • Willingness to work within a multidisciplinary team of researchers and in international research consortia
  • Willingness to relocate to Duesseldorf and travel to meetings of the research consortia and funding-related meetings
  • Open-minded and highly motivated towards innovative and new developments in process industries
