Job Description

The European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) aims to be Europe’s leading centre of excellence on European integration and the new challenges for public management. EIPA has four Antennae: the European Centre for Judges and Lawyers in Luxembourg, the European Centre for the Regions in Barcelona, the European Training Centre for Social Affairs and Public Health Care in Milan and the European Centre for Public Financial Management in Warsaw. EIPA has a temporary vacancy in its Unit on European Policies, for a: RESEARCH ASSISTANT (F/M) on External Relations (Full-time)
We have a multinational team with different professional backgrounds. We provide analysis and practical insights into the design, interpretation and application of the policies of the European Union.

We are seeking to recruit a Research Assistant with expertise in external relations to support our senior scientific staff.

Job Profile:
Duties will mainly consist of:

• supporting the senior members of the scientific staff in EU external relations;
• to assist in the organisation of activities in this area including contract activities with the EU institutions;
• to assist in the research of the senior scientific staff in EU external relations;
• to help develop new learning and training material.

Requirements:
• University degree and postgraduate studies in political science, international relations, law or economics, with a very good knowledge of EU matters in general and, in particular, EU external relations and this may include CFSP/ESDP, trade, development and European Neighbourhood Policy aspects;
• Preferably two years of professional experience in public administration, consultancy or an academic environment;
• Experience in research and publications will be an added advantage;
• Good communication, presentation and writing skills;
• Fluency (speaking and writing) in one of the working languages of the Institute (English, French) and understanding of the other are essential. A working knowledge of other European languages will be considered an asset;
• Demonstrated analytical and organisational skills;
• Excellent PC and internet skills, in particular the use of PowerPoint;
• Experience in and affinity for working with people from different cultural backgrounds;
• Preferably the nationality of one of the EU/EEA Member States or one of the Candidate Countries; Conditions of Employment:

The successful candidate will initially be offered a one-year contract with the option of renewal for another period of one or two years. The offered grade and salary level will be in line with the requirements of the function and will also depend on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
