About Metal Packaging Europe

Metal Packaging Europe  is a Brussels-based industry association, which brings together more than 200 manufacturers, suppliers and their national associations, to promote the benefits of rigid metal packaging at European level.

About the role:

We are looking for an EU Regulatory Affairs Manager who is responsible for the European Affairs activities with at least 3 – 5 years experience in European Affairs.

Your tasks:

  • Lead the secretariat of the European Affairs working group
  • Develop/maintain relationships with the EU institutions and exchange information with policy makers about priority topics for Metal Packaging Europe members
  • Build relationships with relevant stakeholders
  • Represent Metal Packaging Europe externally through being a visible and credible advocate for the industry
  • Ensure an up-to-date knowledge of the EU political landscape and assess EU initiatives relevant to the metal packaging sector
  • Develop clear and concise positioning and messaging
  • Develop and implement strategies and action plans to engage the organisation in EU legislative proposals and policies
  • Be a point of contact for members and moderate member discussion towards agreed objectives and positions.


  • Around 5 years experience in European Affairs
  • University degree in a related field, preferably European studies, Economics, Law, Political Science
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken). Any additional EU language will be an asset.
  • Good understanding of the EU Circular Economy and the Packaging & Packaging Waste Directive
  • Proven ability to work in a team and to manage projects
  • Pro-active ‘hands-on’ approach to work to manage a number of simultaneous tasks
  • The individual has good communication skills and feels comfortable writing articles, reports or position papers in English
  • High level of flexibility and willingness to travel on average 2-3 days per month (mainly within Europe)
  • Autonomous, efficient, flexible and team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office

Salary and Benefits

The position is full-time

MPE offers a competitive salary, which commensurate with the candidate’s experience.

The candidate will also be provided with a laptop and a mobile phone.

Please note that MPE is established under Belgian law and that employment is within the Belgian tax and social security system.
