The company :

Our client, the World Customs Organization (WCO), “provides leadership, guidance and support to Customs administrations to secure and facilitate legitimate trade, realize revenues, protect society and build capacity”.
The WCO, which has a staff of 160, issues a series of publications in various formats and in different languages, including in particular English and French which are the two official languages of the Organization.
Its publications-related activities include, in particular, ensuring the widest possible dissemination of the “Harmonized System” (HS) - a multipurpose international product nomenclature used by more than 200 countries and covering more than 98% of the goods in international trade.

Within a context of organizational restructuring, the WCO is creating a post of Publications Officer (M/F).

The post :

Reporting to the Head of Administration and Personnel, the Publications Officer will fulfil both an editorial and a commercial role, with an ongoing focus on economic performance and high-quality publications.

Respecting deadlines and liaising with multiple internal and external stakeholders, you will be responsible in particular for :

  • The editorial management of the WCO’s printed and digital publications :

-planning, editorial processes, stakeholder coordination, selection of sub-contractors …..

  • The definition and implementation of the publications commercial policy :

-motivating the network of sales agents and licensees, in particular by developing a commercial action plan,

-steering the operation and updating of the e-commerce website and platform.

  • The direction and budget management of the publications activity as a whole.

Your profile :

  • You are a graduate with a publishing diploma.
  • You have at least 10 years’ experience in publishing, preferably in the legal, regulatory or technical field and in a business unit environment.
  • You are familiar with e-commerce issues and technologies.
  • You have a perfect command of English and French, both written and oral.

In addition to your business sense and managerial skills, it is your desire to drive the growth of this activity and work in a multicultural policy environment which will make you the right person for this post.

Conditions :

Renewable 2-year contract, to include a 6-month probationary period.
This post is based in Brussels.
Remuneration dependent on profile, and exempt from income tax.
