Based in Brussels, UNIFE is the European Association of train-builders and rail equipment suppliers. The Association gathers over 95 direct member companies – from numerous SMEs to major industrial champions from all over Europe – active in the engineering, design and manufacture of rolling stock (i.e. trains, metros, trams and freight wagons) as well as rail signalling and infrastructure equipment. UNIFE also brings together national rail industry associations from no less than 14 EU Member States. UNIFE represents its Members’ interests at the level of both European and international institutions. Moreover, UNIFE informs its Members on all European policies and funding instruments of interest for our industry.

Internship description

We are looking for a Public Affairs Intern who will be working under the responsibility of the Head of Unit for Public Affairs and in close cooperation with the Public Affairs Managers in order to help:

  • inform UNIFE Members on all European policies and funding instruments of interest;
  • implement the lobbying and communication strategy of the Association.

The Public Affairs Intern will have the opportunity to provide support to the Unit in fields as various as Industrial policy, Trade & International Affairs, Internal Market, Mobility policy, Investment policy and Environment & Climate Action.

The Public Affairs Intern will also be closely involved in the organisation of the next UNIFE annual General Assembly which will take place in June 2018 in Warsaw (Poland). Part of the internship will therefore consist of helping to better understand the Polish rail market and rail supply industry landscape as well as of helping to contact future speakers from the Polish political institutions.  

Candidate’s requirements

  • Degree in economics, communication, law or political sciences (preferably a Master’s Degree)
  • Interest in EU industrial, trade and/or transport policy
  • Fluent in Polish and in English 
  • Good organisation skills as well as written and verbal communication skills
