Job Description
Emerging Markets Group (EMG) is seeking a Project Officer who is available to work full time on the ongoing EU Gateway Programme’s Central Management Unit.
The Project Officer will be based in EMG’s office in Brussels, Belgium.
EU Gateway Programme
The Programme is funded by the European Commission and focuses on establishing business collaboration between companies from EU countries and companies in Japan and Korea with nine Business Missions per year to 2015. EMG is contractor for the European Commission and is responsible for the Central Management Unit (CMU), which is responsible for Programme communication, maintaining the Programme website, preparing studies of the Programme sectors in Europe, prepare market studies of the sectors in Japan and Korea, participate in the selection of the EU companies and overall planning, and management and monitoring of the Programme. The CMU works closely together with the European Commission, the Coaching Network in Europe which is responsible for recruiting EU companies and the Operational and Logistics Units in Japan and Korea which is responsible for organising the Business Weeks. Job Description
The Project Officer will work closely with EMG’s Project Manager of the Central Management Unit. The specific tasks for the Project Officer are:
Planning and implementing programme promotion activities such as preparation and sending e-newsletters, preparation and sending press releases, maintaining mailing lists, updates of Programme flyers in words and pdf
Maintaining the Programme website (adjustments of texts, uploading of documents and pictures, monitoring website hits)
Participating in selected trade fairs and conferences in Europe to promote the Programme
Organising photo shoots for the annual Fashion Design Business Mission
Participate in selection of EU Companies
Participate in regular management meetings with the Commission and the Coaching Network
Coordinate work with Programme offices in Japan and Korea
Organising and participating in annual coordination meetings in Brussels
Participate in one business week to Japan or Korea per year
Collection and analysing information and data on Programme progress
Preparation of quarterly progress reports to the Commission
Qualifications:
Higher education in business or related field
Minimum three years of relevant business experience
Working level fluency in English orally and in writing; other European languages an advantage
Good planning and organisation skills; mature and a self-starter and able to meet strict deadlines
Experience of working on projects financed by the European Commission
Experience with planning and organising promotion activities, including writing programme promotion texts in English, directing and selection of visuals, etc.
Experience in managing the work of suppliers such as free-lance journalist, PR firm, print houses, web-design company
Good skills in website management, including practical experience in using a Content Management System (CMS)
Good skills in professional use of all Microsoft Office products
Experience with SQL based data management systems an advantage
Experience with private companies an advantage
