Project Management Internship at European Liberal Forum 2021 

Do you want to find out how a democratic and liberal European Union is built brick-by-brick? Do you want to gain experience in European project management?  

At the European Liberal Forum, the think tank and political foundation of the ALDE party, we are working to promote discussions and broker ideas for a liberal future in a united Europe. Together with over 40 member organisations, we set up research and capacity-building projects throughout Europe and beyond.  

As an intern in the Project Unit, you will contribute to building a democratic and liberal Europe while learning what it takes to manage European projects day-to-day and develop a network of think tanks and political foundations.  

What will be your role? 

You will be one of 4 colleagues in ELF’s Project Unit, assisting with the day-to-day management of European research and training projects, and supporting contact with ELF member organisations throughout Europe. You will also play a central role in the office, collaborating with the Communication Unit and Policy & Research Unit. Your main tasks and responsibilities will be: 

  • Making sure all ELF projects are implemented according to European Union regulations throughout the project cycle; 
  • Gathering and checking programme and budgetary materials provided by the member organisations before activities take place;  
  • Collecting and verifying supporting documents after project activities take place; 
  • Coordinating logistics and invitations for events, seminars, workshops, ELF General Assembly, and other meetings; 
  • Performing administrative duties in support of the wider ELF Secretariat including updating various databases, status updates, scheduling, reporting, minute-taking and filing.  

Who do we want? 

We are looking for someone who: 

  • Has completed a Bachelor’s degree; 
  • Has excellent spoken and written English skills. This is a must and any knowledge of additional European language(s), especially French or German, would be appreciated; 
  • Has good communication skills, can handle interpersonal and intercultural relations with multiple organisations at the same time; 
  • Has initial office experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word);  
  • Can work independently, show initiative and a problem-solving attitude;  
  • Can take responsibility for on-going activities, while being flexible enough to take up unexpected new tasks; 
  • Has an affinity with liberal ideas.
