About the Liberation Route Europe Foundation:

Liberation Route Europe is a continuously growing, international remembrance trail that connects important milestones from modern European history. It forms a link between the main regions impacted by the liberation of Europe in 1944-1945, from England, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland and Czech Republic, as well as Italy.

It is a unique project which combines historical content development with a multi-perspective approach, remembrance tourism activities and memory transmission tools at an international level.

The project is developed by the Liberation Route Europe Foundation which works with local/regional/national governments, universities, museums, tourism organizations, veterans associations, commemorative events organizers etc.  

One of the Foundations major projects is de development of a large-scaled international awareness campaign to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the end of the war (2019-2020), called ‘Europe Remembers’.

The Foundation has two offices: in the Netherlands (Utrecht) as well as in Belgium (Brussels).

Scope and Tasks

Under the supervision of Managing Director and in cooperation with the team members, the Project and Communication Assistant will work on the following tasks:

Projects

Europe Remembers campaign and its related online platform:

  • Coordination of the content development: events, travel, suggestions, experiences etc.
  • Coordination and network management: expand network of content partners (museums, local and regional authorities, tourist offices, associations etc.) and collect input /content.
  • Maintenance, moderation and development of the website database/CMS (in line with the existing guidelines), in cooperation with the communication and digital team
  • Editing, translating and writing content.

Other projects: Support to the project managers for the implementation of other projects than Europe Remembers.

Communication and Events

  • Organisation of events e.g. conferences, product launches, travel fair participation, presentations, meetings etc. from small to large scale;
  • Brand management and control of its use: logos, look and feel, corporate brand manuals, visuals, guidelines, maintain image bank etc.
  • Design of all types of communication tools (e.g. flyers, posters, presentations, banners, magazines, digital newsletters, merchandise and other promotional gear);
  • Support the Communication team for community management (social media, assist in writing newsletters and publications etc.);

The Liberation Route Europe is in constant development since its creation, which makes this initiative a very exciting challenge.

Profile 

We are looking for a highly motivated Project and Communication assistant with:

  • A relevant degree  in the field of Communication, Leisure, Events or any other relevant field;
  • At least 2 years of proven experience in Event management;
  • Excellent command of English (both written and oral) mandatory. Knowledge of French, Dutch, German, Polish, Czech and/or Italian language is an advantage;
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office, Wordpress, Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator. Other creative software knowledge and experience would be a plus.
  • Very good command and knowledge about social media;
  • Great attention for details;
  • Flexible work attitude;
  • Proactive, team player and good interpersonal skills;
  • Can-do attitude and hands-on mentality;
  • Ability to approach work from a creative and innovative standpoint;
  • Able to respect deadlines and tight timing and ability to prioritize.

Offer

We offer a full-time position in a dynamic, international and collaborative working environment and exposure to high quality projects.

  • Contract: Full time, fixed-term contract until 31 December 2019 (possibility for renewal afterwards).
  • Remuneration and conditions basis: approx. 2.200€ gross salary + 13th month + double holiday payment + several extra benefits + 38 days of annual leave.
  • Place of work: Brussels (one of the two offices of the Liberation Route Europe Foundation). Note that regular travels may occur.
  • Starting date: as soon as possible
