Job Description
The UIRR is an industry association representing the interests of Combined Transport (CT) in Europe. UIRR was founded in 1970 and has its link office in Brussels since 1988. It regroups 19 intermodal operators located in 14 countries and representing about 50% of the European CT market. Most of the member companies are private operators with a shareholding of railway undertakings and logistic and transport companies wanting to shift their traffic to rail.
- UIRR directly represents transport users and acts as an advisor to the European Union and other supranational organisations;
- UIRR regularly submits major contributions to the EC transport policy in order to promote and defend the interests of CT as well as elaborated proposals for the transition into a truly liberalised rail freight market;
- UIRR coordinates several working groups to exchange knowledge and best practice between its members, in fields such as legal issues, operations and terminals, techniques and wagons, dangerous goods and security;
- UIRR has experience in promoting cooperation between operators and other actors in the transport chain and in pushing for European harmonization;
- UIRR has been/is involved in several transport and/or security-related European project/activities and was coordinator or partner in more than 40 PACT, Marco Polo or FP research projects.

PR and Research Officer
Main tasks:
- Communication and dissemination activities (elaboration of newsletters, articles, statements, press declarations, etc.)
- Drafting of conclusions and strategic recommendations and present members reports
- Collaboration in and coordination of research projects, contacts with European associations and Authorities
- Act as the link between all actors of the projects and UIRR
Profile:
- University degree (economist, civil engineer, etc.)
- Minimum of five years professional experience in public relations or in consulting and in project management.
- High interest in Transport required; actual experience and technical knowledge in this field is an asset
- Sense of responsibility and capability to work on confidential and sensitive issues
- Excellent communication skills, qualities of tact and diplomacy
- Ability to operate in multicultural environments and build effective working relations with members and colleagues
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office)
- Fluent in English, French and German all three indispensable (one as mother tongue)
