Job Description:
The post is based in the Bristol Glaciology Centre working on a European Union project, ice2sea, (www.ice2sea.eu) which aims to explore present-day and future contributions to sea level from glaciers and ice sheets. This is a collaborative project involving ~ 25 partners internationally.
The aim of this post is to produce a time series of mass trends for Antarctica and Greenland from a range of satellite observations combined with climate and statistical modelling. You should have experience in the analysis of 4-D data, preferably from Earth Observation data sets.
A background in glaciology and/or climatology would be advantageous but not essential. Initially, funding will be for a period of up to three years with salary in the range £29,704 - £33,432 depending on experience. If successful, you may be appointed either on a fixed term or a permanent contract depending on the extent of your previous relevant research experience, in line with the University's fixed term contract agreement.
Interviews are likely to be held in the week commencing 7th December, and the expected start date is 1st February 2010.
