Job Description

The Institute of International Finance, the global association of financial institutions based in Washington, D.C., seeks an outstanding professional to assist with a broad range of analytical and advocacy activities.

The responsibilities of the position include
1) being actively involved in analyzing new accounting initiatives of international significance of global regulatory entities (such as the Basel Committee, IOSCO, FATF, IAIS, and Financial Stability Forum) of principal national regulatory agencies and standard setters (European Commission; CEBS; CESR; CEIOPS; UK FSA; US SEC, Fed; OCC, etc., IASB and FASB), and of other global supervisory groups;
2) acting as a liaison with senior officers of IIF members and with the international regulatory community on behalf of IIF members;
3) producing detailed agendas and documents for committee meetings; developing consensus documents and position papers of working groups; and
4) analyzing new proposals and reports from global supervisory groups for members’ use. Position requires frequent international travel.

Applicants should have at least 3 years’ related professional experience and a graduate degree in accounting, law, business, or international studies from a leading university. Professional experience related to accounting policy issues and a detailed understanding of accounting theory is especially desirable. Relevant experience with continental and U.S. regulatory processes for financial services institutions is also required, as well as a general understanding of a broad range of financial instruments and their role in international finance. Experience with an insurance, banking, or securities trade association, or regulator, law firm, accounting firm or financial institution would be pertinent.

Must have a strong command of the English language and exceptional analytical and writing skills. Academic publications a plus. Second language a plus.
