The European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) is a not-for-profit organisation with a European office in The Hague, The Netherlands and an African office in Cape Town, South Africa. EDCTP is a partnership between European and African countries to accelerate the development of new clinical interventions such as drugs, vaccines, microbicides and diagnostics against poverty-related diseases in Africa (HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis). We are looking for a North-North Networking Officer to be based at the EDCTP office in The Hague to assist the North-North Networking Manager in the co-ordination of activities aimed at promoting further integration and alignment of participating Member States in joint activities and investments in clinical research on poverty-related diseases in developing countries.
Duties and responsibilities:
The main duties and responsibilities will include:
- Liaison with EDCTP-EEIG Member States and other EU Member States to collect data on EDCTP-relevant national research programmes
- Engagement with partner countries and stakeholders in order to strengthen collaboration and enhance synergy in preparation for research activities to be undertaken under EDCTP–II
- Identification of activities and exploration of opportunities for participation of the newer EU Member States (EU-12) in EDCTP-II
- Mapping European countries' national programmes and activities within the anticipated scope of EDCTP-II
- Identification of baseline and reporting mechanisms to monitor and sustain integration of European national programmes and activities under EDCTP-II
- Summarising technical and financial data on Member State national research programmes for management and stakeholder reports
- Any other tasks that may be assigned by the North-North Networking Manager.
Person specification:
- A Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant field
- Minimum of two years administrative experience working as a networking/project officer
- Excellent written and spoken English. French or any other European language would be an advantage.
- Project management experience
- Proven capacity to be pro-active, to work independently and to manage and prioritise workload
- Ability to summarise information from multiple sources in order to produce reports for Senior Management and external stakeholders
- Excellent presentation skills
- Strong sense of diplomacy and an ability to take account of both personal and political sensitivities in an international environment
- Good IT skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office products, such as PowerPoint.
Salary scale:
EDCTP offers a highly competitive salary package commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Employment conditions:
- The employee will be stationed at the EDCTP Secretariat in The Hague, Netherlands

- The EDCTP Secretariat is characterized by a multicultural work environment and English is the official language.
