Direct Selling Europe is recruiting a Managing Director (f/m).
Direct Selling Europe (DSE) is the federation of European national trade associations and Europe-wide operating, well reputed and sustainable direct selling companies. DSE Members are best in class direct selling companies such as Tupperware, Deesse, Vorwerk, InmediaOne] (Bertelsmann), Victoria-Benelux, Lux International, AMC, Jafra, WIV Wein International AG, Just, Pierre-Lang, Nutrimetics and the national direct selling associations from Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy and Switzerland. We are seeking a full-time Managing Director with an excellent understanding of the EU policy making environment as well as excellent communication skills to promote the interests of DSE members and manage the office of DSE. The Managing Director is the voice of the association towards policymakers in Brussels. The Managing Director is entrusted with establishing and maintaining contacts with policymakers as well as the strategic guidance and daily management of the Organisation.
More specifically, the Managing Director shall, in close cooperation with DSE members:
- Defend and promote the interests of the association towards the relevant decision-making powers (European institutions, EU Member State’s representatives, etc);
- Create and maintain an international network of contacts;
- Develop advocacy strategies;
- Prepare communication activities (press announcements, seminars and conferences, etc), develop and maintain the association’s website and literature;
- Perform all necessary management and administrative functions within a small team, including organizing board and annual general meetings;
- Monitor and report on developments in European and national legislation affecting the direct selling industry.
Essential skill set:
- A sound knowledge of the EU institutions and how they operate;
- A minimum of 5 years experience in public affairs;
- Ability to work autonomously and be a self-starter;
- Strong oral and written communication skills; excellent written and spoken English;
- Ability to work in other languages (French and / or German for example) would be an advantage;
- Excellent interpersonal and network building skills;
- Experience working in a fast paced complex policy environment;
- Familiarity with legal subjects would be an asset.
