Responsibilities
This position is located in the Registry, Judicial Support Services Division in the Office of President. Under the supervision of the Chef de Cabinet the incumbent will draft speeches for the President for presentation at conferences and political fora, including the Security Council and the General Assembly of the United Nations. The incumbent will also assist the Chef de Cabinet in the preparation of reports for the Security Council and the General Assembly. He or she will prepare orders assigning the case load of the Chambers, and review the orders of other staff in the Office of the President; draft interlocutory appeals and coordinate the drafting of judgments, as well as drafting sections of judgements; review interlocutory appeals drafts of other legal officers working on cases on which the President presides; liaise with other organs of the Tribunal on Tribunal wide projects and respond to the memoranda of other organs of the Tribunal under the supervision of the Chef de Cabinet. He or she will assist the Chef de Cabinet with respect to administrative needs of Chamber, including representing Chambers at meetings with other sections/departments of the Tribunal. Act as general liaison with persons both inside and outside of the Tribunal; generally, provide assistance and guidance in matters related to the Tribunal, both from a practical and legal point of view, within the limits of the overriding respect of confidentiality.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Advanced university degree in law with specialization in criminal law or international law desirable. A first level degree in law (or equivalent) in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
Work Experience
Minimum of 7 years relevant professional experience.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the Tribunal. Fluency in one of the working languages is required; knowledge of the other is an advantage.
Other Skills
The United Nations shall place no restrictions on the eligibility of men and women to participate in any capacity and under conditions of equality in its principal and subsidiary organs. (Charter of the United Nations - Chapter 3, article 8). English and French are the two working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. The United Nations Secretariat is a non-smoking environment.
