Job Description

The Association of European Performers' Organisations (AEPO-ARTIS) represents European collective management organisations from 22 countries for performers in all cultural fields.
We are currently looking for a Legal Officer - half-time position.

Job description
Reporting to the General Secretary and to the Head of Office, he/she will:
- prepare the work, draft and report on issues relating to intellectual property rights and in particular performers' rights at EU level;
- gather, analyse and present information on relevant legal and economical practices, follow-up EU legislation and initiatives in related fields, including by taking part in meetings and working groups;
- participate in the preparation and the drafting of position papers;
- feed-in updates in our newsletter and website on above issues.
Start date: March 2009
Term of contract: 1 year, half-time.


Profile

The candidate will:
- have a university degree in law, preferably in the field of intellectual property, an understanding of the cultural sector in Europe and knowledge of European policies, institutions and procedures;
- preferably have 2-3 year professional experience with the EU institutions and/or in the relevant field;
- be a fluent English speaker and writer. Knowledge of French and other languages is an asset;
- have excellent oral and written communication skills;
- be able to act on own initiative under supervision;
- enjoy working in a small team;
- have good IT skills;
- be able to handle tight schedules, to plan and prioritise.
