The European Food Information Council (EUFIC) is looking for a Legal Intern.

EUFIC, the European Food Information Council, is a non-profit organisation that provides clear information on food and health, based on sound science. The information we offer is produced to inspire and empower the general public and health professionals alike. EUFIC receives funding from individual food and drink producers, the European Commission, and foundations.

About you

  • You have at least 1 years’ experience working in a similar position.
  • You have a strong interest in GDPR, data protection and legal compliance.
  • You can handle confidential information and have good organizational skills with attention to detail
  • You have good people skills  and are able to interact and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, across all levels.
  • You’re proactive, independent and willing to help.
  • You speak fluent English with a good level of French.

About the job

This is a great opportunity for a person with data protection experience to join an organisation that is guided by passion to inspire and empower people to make better diet and lifestyle decisions. You will be a part of developing the strategy for, and monitoring EUFIC’s compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as well as supporting the Admin team in the day to day tasks of running the office. EUFIC is a high pace environment so you will be exposed a great opportunity to take on responsibility in a very motivated team.

  • You will be joining EUFIC’s Office & Human Resources Team and will take on tasks including (but not limited to):
  • Act as point of contact to the internal teams on GDPR
  • With the support of the team head, to inform, advise and issue recommendations on GDPR compliance
  • Develop consent campaigns in line with EUFIC’s strategy to engage with the key stakeholders
  • Review commercial agreements and contracts, including Data Processing agreements with data processors
  • Review and update existing data management procedures/databases to ensure compliance within GDPR
  • Set up detailed guides on data protection policies
  • Set up information management and record-keeping systems related to GDPR.
  • Manage escalated queries from all areas within EUFIC, bringing them to resolution by developing effective solutions;
  • Work closely with the Admin Assistant on other ongoing day to day Admin tasks as required.

Job conditions

  • 6 month traineeship contract (Convention d’Immersion Professionelle)
  • Full-time position 38 hours/week
  • Monthly net allowance € 780, as well as lunch vouchers and a transport contribution
  • Multicultural workplace in the heart of Brussels.
