AMICE is the representative organisation for the mutual and cooperative insurance sector in Europe. Its prime purpose is to ensure that the voice of the sector is heard and that the interests of its members are taken into account in securing a level playing field for all insurers in Europe regardless of their legal form.

AMICE provides a platform for mutual and cooperative insurers of all sizes to combine resources and expertise, exchange experiences across national borders and discuss key issues and concerns relating to planned legislative and regulatory changes and developments.

 The close to 3,000 EU insurers united in the mutual and cooperative sector account for more than half of all insurance undertakings and for a market share of more than 32%. They provide cover for more than 400 million members/policyholders and employ nearly 440,000 staff.

The opportunity:

AMICE is looking for an intern to assist the Secretariat in updating a comprehensive study on mutual and cooperative insurers in the EU. The last edition of this study was published in 2012 with statistical data from 2008 covering 27 EU Member States. The new edition will contain statistical data from 2015 covering the EU and EFTA (32 countries). The legal sections of the study should be as up to date as possible. A 3 month internship starting in the first half of September


Updating the legal information in a study on mutual and cooperative insurers in the EU/EFTA through:

  • Internet-based desk research
  • Email and/or telephone contacts with national supervisors/regulators/insurance associations and AMICE members
  • Collecting and compiling information
  • Drafting the relevant legal sections of the study
  • Coordination with other team members

Candidate profile:

  • University level studies, in company law and/or insurance law, preferably with comparative law experience
  • Solid research skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (the report is published in English). Other European languages are an asset.
  •  Strong MS Office skills
  • Motivated to work in a multinational environment
  • Open-mindedness, curiosity
  • Self-motivated and able to perform tasks autonomously
