Established in 1988, the EFCI is the voice of the cleaning and facility services industry in Europe. It brings together national professional organisations coming from 14 EU Member States. The Federation represents one of the most important services industries in Europe, with 280,000 companies employing nearly 4 million people.

Job Purpose:

EFCI’s Secretariat in Brussels is looking for a Junior Policy and Communications Officer to join its Secretariat and work in the implementation of its policy and communication strategy. This is a Brussels-based, full-time position.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

The Policy and Communications Officer will report to the Executive Director on the following tasks (non exhaustive):

Policy work:

  • Monitoring and reporting on key policy issues impacting the sector and developing policy documents (policy notes, reports);
  • Development and implementation of projects.

Communication and membership:

  • Preparation and follow-up of internal and external meetings;
  • Preparation of newsletters and press releases;
  • Managing social media (LinkedIn, Twitter) and small website updates (WordPress);
  • Organisation of events and campaigns, liaising with external providers and members;
  • Work closely with the Executive Director on membership issues;
  • Work with the team in administrative and organisational tasks.

Required competences and skills:

  • EU public affairs background and good understanding of how the EU institutions work; background in European law, political sciences, or business-related field.
  • Excellent drafting and research skills;
  • Experience in internal and/or external communications (WordPress, MailChimp);
  • Computer literate and excellent user of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
  • Excellent English; all other European languages are a plus;
  • Preferred topics of experience: social affairs, procurement, sustainability and circular economy;
  • Experience in an industrial association (membership, daily management) and/or in project management is a plus;
  • Team-player; self-organised and proactive.
