Applications are invited for the position of Junior Expert in Computer Incident and Response Handling at the European Network and Information Security Agency.

Job description

The Junior Expert in Computer Incident and Response Handling will report to the Head of the Technical Competence Department. He/she will work within the Computer Incident and Response Handling Section of the Technical Competence Department, alongside the Senior Expert in Computer Incident and Response Handling and other Junior Experts. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Facilitating and promoting actions for the development, implementation, maintenance, and cooperation of computer incident and response handling activities.
  • Developing relations with European CERTs in Europe and similar entities and, when called upon, supporting their activities.
  • Contributing to ENISA IT security architecture.
  • Supporting ad-hoc Working Groups set up in his/her field of expertise.

Qualifications and experience required

a) Formal requirements:

  • A level of education which corresponds to completed university studies attested by a diploma when the normal period of university education is four years or more, or
  • A level of education which corresponds to completed university studies attested by a diploma and appropriate professional experience of at least one year when the normal period of university education is at least three years;
  • In addition to the above, 3 years of professional experience relevant to the duties concerned after the award of the university degree;
  • Thorough knowledge of one of the official languages of the European Union and a satisfactory knowledge of another official European language.

In addition, in order to be eligible a candidate must:

  • Be a national of one of the Member States of the European Union;
  • Be entitled to his/her full rights as a citizen;
  • Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by the applicable laws concerning military service;
  • Be physically fit to perform the duties linked to the post.

b) Selection criteria:
 
Essential

  • Proven experience in the tasks described above.
  • Technical and policy understanding of issues related to computer viruses, intrusion detection and incident response.
  • Technical understanding of vulnerabilities in common operating systems and Internet protocols.
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with Member States and the incident and response handling community.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to clearly draft documents.
  • Very good command of oral and written English.

Advantageous

  • Experience in an abuse handling, a fraud management or an incident response team in an Internet or telecommunications environment.
  • Understanding of network monitoring tools and their configuration in complex systems.
  • Experience in the European institutions and technical bodies relating to information security.
  • Experiences in exercises related to NIS, like incident response exercises, in any role (participant, organizer, trainer, etc.)
  • Understanding of ENISA core activities.
