The Benelux Office and the European Institutions of the United Nations Regional Information Centre for Western Europe (UNRIC) is recruiting a bilingual Dutch-English intern. This internship will start on July, Monday 29 in Brussels and will last a minimum of four months, six months maximum.

Daily tasks
As part of an international team, the intern will have the opportunity to discover the United Nations from within. Among their daily tasks, they will monitor the Dutch-speaking and French-speaking press in the Benelux, and translate press reviews into English. They will be asked to collect information for the purpose of writing, translating and publishing articles on the UNRIC website. In addition, the trainee will be required to translate articles and interviews from English into French and/or Dutch and vice versa. They will be in charge of the English edition of the weekly newsletter "The Week Ahead". The intern will participate in the management of social media content. In addition, they will support the Benelux office in the organisation of events and assist in the preparation of interviews with United Nations officials. Finally, the Benelux office often covers events in the Brussels region.
Profile of the candidate
The candidate must have a university education (in political science, languages, communication, media...) ideally at master's level and a perfect command of English.
Required skills
  • Writing skills (ability to write concisely and quickly in Dutch and English);
  • Very good command of English essential;
  • Fluency in Dutch;
  • A working command of French can be an asset;
  • Ability to translate selected United Nations documents using a specific vocabulary;
  • Autonomy and spirit of initiative;
  • Open-minded and able to work in a team;
  • UNRIC does not provide financial assistance to interns. A certificate is issued at the end of the internship.
